Over the last 20 years the CODRA Gynecology Center has been keeping up the pace with latest diagnostics and treatment trends by using the latest equipment and continuous education of doctors.
Gynecology and obstetrics are fields of medicine with a wide scope of activities starting from ambulatory work, through ambulatory interventional gynecology and obstetrics, to MPO procedures, delivery and ultimately operative gynecology.
At CODRA hospital, this entire program of activities is combined into one comprehensive approach, with a view to facilitate adequate and complete treatment.
The center is consisted out of two wards, for gynecology and obstetrics, with a single and double apartment type rooms, a semi intensive care unit and an ICU, as well as three outpatient clinics within the Polyclinic section of the Hospital. We also have state of the art ORs. The Gynecology center has two state of the art endovideo columns for endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures, a mobile X Ray machines, as well as multiple state of the art ultrasound machines(4D option included) in the wards and in the clinics.
Outpatient section
In the outpatient ward, in addition to ultrasound examinations, all outpatient interventions are performed.
Interventional procedures, whether obstetrical (artificial termination of pregnancy, placement of cerclage, etc.) or gynecological (condyloma removal, biopsies, Bartholin’s gland extraction) are performed in a special room for interventions, which is equipped with a radio wave knife as well as a CO² laser where they are performed both under local and general anesthesia.
Operative gynecology
Operative gynecology, as a demanding department, is something that distinguishes the Gynecology Center of the CODRA Hospital. 95% of operations are performed using minimally invasive surgical methods (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy), which is an exception not only in Montenegro but also in the region. Even the most demanding procedures (laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic myomectomy, laparoscopic hysterectomy with lymphadenectomy) are performed as routine procedures. The advantage of laparoscopic operations is faster recovery and return to regular life activities, and what is even more important, less formation of adhesions due to less tissue traumatization. Intensive care with state-of-the-art equipment, as well as an anesthesiologist who is on duty 24 hours a day, are a great support for a high-quality and quick recovery.
In two ORs within the central operating block, equipped according to all the latest standards, two laparoscopic columns of the latest generation, in addition to other supporting equipment of the highest technology, all operative procedures in the field of gynecology are performed, laparoscopically and classically:
- Conization
- Cystectomy (cyst surgery on the ovary)
- Fallopian tube reconstruction
- Myomectomy (myoma surgery)
- Hysterectomy (surgery to remove the uterus)
- Hysterectomy with lymphonodectomy
- Reconstructive surgery due to falling of the anterior and posterior vaginal wall
